Today we crossed the last threshold in our adoption process. Although Jem's adoption was finalized in Kazakhstan, we were required to RE-finalize it in the US of A, after Jem had been here six months. We dressed up, brought all our documentation in, and did our best to look like a happy family (see attached photo).
And then the judge walked in and greeted us with a rabbit in his hand. (see attached photo.)
Jem was more interested in her Cheerios (it was snack time, after all) than the rabbit--who we took an immediate shining to. Such a judicious bunny (see attached photo). In fact, Jem was crying when she wasn't eating. And so, Jem left a little trail of Cheerios from the public gallery all the way up to the Judge's bench, in a room with a sign that clearly stated no food or beverages permitted. Jem read the sign and decided that it didn't apply to her.
As Jem would say, we're "al dun." Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
